This red devil is read for a slicin’ a lifetime of wood shavings.

If you didn’t hear yesterday’s story, these knives were made in collaboration with Josh Whitehead of @greenhavenforge a while back. I have this ten year old Sloyd knife that is my workhorse tool for finishing. It just does it all and after years of modifying it, it’s become this point little shaving factory, and the slender tip is great for tight turns on those spoon necks or other tight radius corners.

The color inspired by the hot rods and vintage guitars I grew up around that my dad restored (1950s-1970s) chrome, flashy colors, and the smell gasoline brings back memories. What I love about this painting style is that you can still see the grain, none of the toolmakers are hidden by thick paint, and it’s been burnished a bit so the high spots have just rubbed through to reveal the wood color. I can’t wait to see how this will age when the right person puts it through the daily chores for a couple of years. 😍
