Curly silver maple stained with tree resin and tung oil, and added layers of red artist oil paint rubbed back and fourth to give a rich warm and well used patina.

If you didn’t hear yesterday’s story, these knives were made in collaboration with Josh Whitehead of @greenhavenforge a while back. I have this ten year old Sloyd knife that is my workhorse tool for finishing. It just does it all and after years of modifying it, it’s become this point little shaving factory, and the slender tip is great for tight turns on those spoon necks or other tight radius corners.
