I toy around with this shape in my mind every so often. I finally excavated one from a paper birch log. There’s something iconic about this shape. So many of us utensil carvers get so stuck in the usual round bowl and handle type objects. Yes, this could sneak in under that radar but from the front it looks like a wedge or triangle. From the side it looks like a leaf spring shape. Upside down from the side it looks like a person bending in an arch.

It fits so comfortable in your grip, yet it looks stylistic and bold like it likes to be left alone to be proudly perched on the shelf. This is something I might explore more down the line, and maybe it’s next story is carrying your next drink, which’ll lead to the next story it shall carry. The first in it’s line.

What should we call it?
