Perfect for Coffee, Soups, or Ale.

The Kuksa - Inspired by the traditional wooden cup of northern Scandinavian people. These are designed for a great drinking experience with it's tapered and fluted rim to sip from, it's undercut bellied bowl easy to hold onto, and less splashy. Wood naturally insulates well, so it'll keep your hot drinks warm and you cold drinks cool.

Unlike other materials wood is one of the only ones to have an ever changing patina. What you drink, it absorbs a bit of that charm and overtime develops into a deep dark color inside the bowl. Not just a drinking vessel, but a vessel of another kind. The kind that carry stories from the forest to the table.

This Italian Alder which I felled in New Zealand was fast grown and you can see this in it’s really wide and beautiful growth rings. They really reflect a warmth unlike any of timber I’ve used before.

**This cup was just finished and oiled and may take up to 4 weeks to cure or harden. You may use it, but if you notice weeping on the outside of the cup, that means the liquid is pushing the oil out and needs more time to setup. It also may have a taste of linseed. More oil can be applied, or if the pores don’t clog with oil, you can easily boil this in milk to seal the deal.

These special run of cups have an interesting background that you can read about on my blog

Each cup is like a song, reflecting my mood and emotion. They share a little insight into my daily life of how I’m feeling at the time. Each one is completely unique. This particular cup grew up in New Zealand.
